My First Trip to LONDON!

Saturday January 2oth

Kristie, Dr Taul, Ryan and I boarded the bus at 11 to make out way to London. How exciting! I really could not believe I was finally getting go!

The landscape travelling to London was just beautiful.

We began by finding the underground and buying our day pass for about 5pounds. We looked for cheap tickets to a theater show, but this didn't work out...probably for the best because this was possibly the most beautiful day I had experienced in England yet, and I was so excited to see everything I could!

We found a pleasant italian restaraunt and I enjoyed my first restaurant meal since my arrival in England. The food was amazing! We tried Sanpelgrini, which is an italian carbonated juice drink.


Next we walked past the National Portrait Gallery and the National Art Museum. I will have to remember these places for later.


We found our way to Trafalgar Square.
We played in the fountains and on the big lion statues.


Next we made the journey to Parliament, complete with Big Ben!


Then it was off to Westminster Abbey....it was overwhelming to think this is where all the coronations and royal weddings (Princess Di!) take place...Dr. Taul was a great help with taking pictures.......

He had to sit on the ground to get this one!


Afterwards, we took the underground back to the Tower of London castle and that famous Tower Bridge. The underground was SOOO packed!! I tried not to think about how far underground I actually was.

I took adavantage of being a tourist.....

The tower Bridge was absolutely gorgeous. Lot's of opportunities for picture taking!


Dr. Taul had to return to Oxford, but Ryan, Kristie and I continued on...our first stop was a little cafe under the Tower Bridge!

We continued to the London Bridge.


And Picadilly Circus...which is like the Time Square of London. There absolutely hundreds and hundreds of people.


We went into a Virgin Mobile store...in the bathrooms they have these supersonic jet hand dryers. I'm serious....when I put my hand under the dryer my skin rippled like waves of water...Kristie said that it would be funny if I put my face under there....so i did.

Next we hopped the underground to Buckinham Palace...it was amazing lit up at night...

We sat on the monstrous statues across from the palace.

and then caught the bus back home.

While waiting we made use of our ipods :)

It was a long day, but memorable. I look forward to making my way back and actually getting to see things more up close now that I know where everything is.
